Day 5
Hungary is a lot more livable than I thought it was. I'm loathe to make direct comparisons, but Budapest is far superior to Melbourne in every conceivable way, including Australian-ness and, unbelievably, Melbourne-ness. Here's a picture of what I'm currently experiencing: The gödör klub, deep underground, but, paradoxically quite near the surface, blessed by infinite sunbeams, carefully filtered though 50cm of pond water. The stereo music is a very pleasant cafe-del-mar compilation, the band currently setting up though is I suspect another experimental retro-funk outfit. It's a cool place, walls and floor crafted from the travertine of Colliseum fame, bare concrete columns, and a perpetual under-construction feel.
